DIY: Ruby Red Slippers

For Halloween this year I'm dressing up as Dorothy. Dorothy signature item would have to be her ruby red slippers. Who wants to pay $20-$30 for a pair of shoes, that you probably wont wear but once, when you can make your own for about 10 bucks or so.

All you need is:

                                                       1. Pair of shoes
-I grabbed a pair from the Goodwill

                                                       2. Red glitter

                                                       3.  Glue (whatever kind you feel would work best)
                                                                    -I used tacky glue

                                                       4. Paintbrush

                                                       5. Big bowl

                                                       6. Newspaper

                                                       7. Sealant spray

Ok so the first thing I did was layout some newspaper because this can be messy. Then I proceeded by squeezing some glue on the shoe then spreading it out with the brush. I put the shoe over the bowl and sprinkled some glitter on it. Don't be afraid to be generous with the glitter because you can reuse whatever is left in the bowl.

I did mine in small sections and I ended up putting globs of glue on it. Don't do that! If the layer is of glue is thick it gradually droops down and it clumps up. Which means you have to scrape and redo. What were you thinking Hannah?

After you finish covering the whole shoe let it dry. It's going to be a little patchy because some of the glitter shook off. So once it dries a little you can put a little thin layer over the patches and sprinkle some more glitter.

I didn't have a sealant spray so I didn't get to spray mine. I highly recommend getting some so it will set the glitter in place. I plan on grabbing some Friday morning so make sure you grab some.

Now your ruby red slippers are completed and are ready for your costume and it cost half of what you would've paid for a pair at a costume store.

*The glue has dripped down a little on this one as you can see on the heel.

*Why you need newspaper. Too much glitter!!!

Enjoy!

Big News!!!!

I've got some exciting news this morning. Y'all remember my friend Grace right? The one who is obsessed with 1D, well.........

We're going back June 31 to see One Direction!!! Presale tickets went on sale today and Grace went ahead and bought ours!!! We will be in Section E closer to Section D, which is way better than this years view!

It's like a dream come true. Now all I need is Niall or Harry to see me and put a ring on it.... a girl can dream right haha.

For some reason they decided not to come back to Tennessee. I think because it was too hot for them. No joke the whole concert they kept saying it was really hot, which it was very hot and humid.
So we're having to drive all the way to Indianapolis but who cares it'll be worth it :)

Let me know if you plan on going to see the On The Road Again tour!

Pumpkin Carving Fail

It's almost the end of October and you can't end the month without giving a pumpkin a makeover. So after church yesterday, a few of my friends and I decided to buy some pumpkins and do just that.

I wanted the perfect pumpkin but I was in a rush and ended up getting a lopsided one that was tacky. I could work with it though. Two of the girls got white pumpkins. The other two got small orange ones.

They all wanted to paint theirs and make them look all sparkly and cute. While I wanted to carve and pull out all the pumpkin guts. I know this sounds weird but that's my favorite part. I just love the way it feels, kinda like mud. I know what you're thinking: What a weirdo!

For my design I printed off Tinker Bell's head. We headed outside with our supplies and began. The girls brought out paint, glitter, glue, and paint pens. I brought out tape, a butter knife, and a sharper kitchen knife. No scraper for the insides just my hands. (I was limited on supplies don't judge)

The girls began painting away while I began cutting a circle around the stem. I began gutting the pumpkin pulling out all the seeds and gunk from inside it. I ended up getting a little Frozen princess to help me for a little bit too :)

Like I said earlier I didn't have anything to scrape the insides with so I used my nails for some of it. I do not suggest this by the way cause it sucked! I taped Tink's head to the pumpkin and began carving away.

This is where the fail comes in, well the fail began when I bought a lopsided pumpkin. I carved some of the wrong parts out. Everybody else was finished with theirs so I did what had to be done......

We took some pictures of the finish products and I have to say mine looks the best!
*Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

On a side note my friend Grace said she wanted to be in the blog so here ya go ;)

One Direction: Where We Are Movie Review!!

I know I was supposed to do 31 days of Halloween but I'm honestly too busy to do so. Plus it's my blog and I can do what I want.
One Direction: Where We Are - The Concert Film
With that being said, this past Saturday I got to go see the new One Direction movie. Now I've not seen their other ones so I didn't exactly know what to expect. My sister and my friend, Grace, went with me. Let me tell you a little something about Grace, she's a total fangirl. She knows almost everything about but actually knows everything about Harry Styles. (She calls me a carrot?)

We actually showed up a little late and not to my surprise, the room was filled with all girls except for the occasional parent. We sit in our seats and gaze upon the beauty which was on the screen. Harry, Niall, and Liam looking wonderfully scrumptious on the big screen. Of course the other two were there but I don't really care much for them.

The beginning was a little Q&A with boys which was actually pretty funny. Of course Harry sounded high when he talked but looked like perfection so it didn't really matter haha. After the Q&A it showed them in concert at Milan, Italy.
I went to the Nashville concert back in August and ours was nothing like this. It was amazing! I felt like I was back at the concert again. I wanted to scream, sing, and shout I love you. Towards the end we did actually sing. By we I mean everyone in the theater.
The film featured tons of footage of girl sobbing, which to me was funny. Sorry if you were like that at their concert. I just find it funny. There were tons of funny parts throughout the concert though. For example when all the lads decided to go pee and leave Liam on stage by himself. Hahaha!

The only thing was they didn't play all the songs. I didn't know if they edited the film like that or Milan just didn't get to hear all the songs we did in Nashville.

I give One Direction's Where We Are movie two thumbs up. If you're a 1D fan you'll love it! Plus you get over an hour footage of hotties!

*The film was only available for two days in select theaters. It will be available on dvd soon.

Cheap Cheap Cheree

If you asked me my favorite place to shop I would say Dollar Tree is high up there. Everything is $1! Every time I go in there I always end up buying something.

I went earlier today to go find some things for Halloween diy projects. I got what I came for plus an item or two.

The mason jars, vinegar bottle, and black worms are for my project. I couldn't help myself when I stopped and smelled the candles.

I popped the lid off and immediately fell in love. It smelt so frikin good! This pumpkin pie candle has to be one of my faves.

I know the sugar cookie scent has nothing to do with the season but OMG! Have you smelt it? I was not about to pass this up. It smells so good that you want to eat it!

I thought I had everything but before I went to check out these things caught my eye. I have to make cupcakes for my churches fall festival so these will come in handy. How cute is this! The white things on top are little ghosts that you'll top the cupcake off with.

I swear If I could I'd buy the whole store out!

Scary Movies That Make You Scared To Go Anywhere Alone

So in case you haven't noticed I didn't do days 3, 4, 5, or 6 of my Halloween posts. I've had a very busy weekend and didn't have time to do them so here I am making it up!

We all enjoy scary movies. There's just something about them. The way they get your adrenaline pumping when someone is being attacked or in danger. There's just something about them.

During this time of season AMC usually airs a ton of scary movies. And it's absolutely the best! When I was younger, after watching a super scary movie, I would be too afraid to use the bathroom by myself or walk down a hallway. It sounds silly right? Those were the best kind of movies though.

Sure they might have given me nightmares or made me scared of the dark but they seemed so real.

Nightmare on Elm Street happened to be one of those. My dad had all of them and my siblings and I (mainly my stepbrother) would watch them. I enjoyed the humor in it but the story itself made me scared to go to sleep. If you like blood and nightmares this is the movie for you.
Oh Jason, the reason I hate the day Friday the 13th. I always had a hard time watching Friday the 13th for some reason. I could watch other scary movies but not these. Now looking back at some of the older series to it, it looks cheesy. They still get your adrenaline going though and still put a little fear in me. The newer Friday the 13th movies are pretty good and scare the living poop out of me. Have fun enjoying this one.

Halloween was one of those I had a hard time watching too. It just seemed so creepy and not to mention my step dad would go around humming that hauntingly tune that played in the movie. Just like Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, Halloween has multiple sequels to it. You can't have Halloween without watching Halloween.

Leprechaun was the reason that every child became scared of leprechauns. These fun loving Lucky Charm eaters became a scary killing machine in this movie.

You know how Toy Story made you fall in love with your toys.... well this movie made you want to burn every doll you owned. Ugh I absolutely hated Chucky. Not because of it was a bad movie but because it made me think my porcelain dolls would come to life in the middle of the night and kill me. Thank you for that.

You're welcome for the nightmares :)

Hot Guys and Vampires

Yes you read the title right! In case you haven't heard The Vampire Diaries has returned! Day 2 of 31 days of Halloween is a good one! Halloween is all about vampires, werewolves, witches, and ghosts right? Well TVD has all of them and they're all hot!

Season six started tonight and as I'm typing this I'm currently watching it. Boy am I excited already! Who doesn't love seeing a good looking  Damon, Stephan, Jeremy, Matt, etc. There's too many to include! And it's all back in time for the holiday.

To sum up the show I would say it's about: two vampire brothers who like the same girl and everyone always seems to sacrifice themselves for this girl.  Oh and she has a doppelganger who has a doppelganger, who has a doppelganger, who has a doppelganger. Yeah that's a lot of Nina Dobrev.

If you go on Netflix you can start from season one and catch up on it or tune in to the CW on Thursday nights at 8/7c. At times it can seem to get boring but if you continue to watch it, it can get really good. So press on and join the fan club!

31 Days of Halloween

Today marked the first day of October! Let the hocus pocus stuff begin! Halloween comes in 2nd when talking about my favorite holidays. All the candy, costumes, magic, pumpkins, and spooks it hard not to love this holiday. Instead of it being one day though you kind of celebrate it throughout the month.

To start celebrating I want to do 31 days of Halloween. I'll be posting everyday of all my favorite things that come with the holiday.

To kickoff the first day I decided to go with something big. You can't have a Halloween filled month without.......Harry Potter!

Everyone's favorite wizard, you can't go wrong with it. Pick up one of the seven Harry Potter books and start reading away. It will surely put you in the Halloween spirit.

If you don't feel like reading, fear not! They're all on dvd so just stick it in the dvd  player and watch hours of this magical story.

Happy 1st day of Halloween!
